EMPEZANDO EL 2026: Joven fallece tras choque entre motocicleta y jeepeta en tramo carretero Los Ríos–Neyba

Neyba, provincia Bahoruco.– A pocas horas de iniciarse el año nuevo, una joven de 25 años perdió la vida la mañana de este jueves tras resultar gravemente herida en un accidente de tránsito ocurrido en el tramo carretero Los Ríos, próximo a la piscina El Cachimbo, en esta demarcación.
La víctima fue identificada como Leidy Peña, de nacionalidad dominicana, estudiante y residente en el municipio de Los Ríos, quien falleció mientras recibía atenciones médicas en la sala de emergencias del Hospital Municipal Los Ríos, alrededor de las 9:10 de la mañana de hoy.
De acuerdo con el diagnóstico médico, la joven murió a consecuencia de trauma craneal y abdominal severo, además de fracturas en el radio y cúbito izquierdo, así como fractura de fémur izquierdo. Las lesiones fueron provocadas tras el impacto de la motocicleta que conducía, marca Loncin, color rojo, la cual se desplazaba sin casco protector, e impacto con una jeepeta.

El vehículo involucrado es una Ford Explorer, color negro, placa G223330, conducida por José Manuel Tapia Medina, estudiante, residente en el municipio de La Descubierta, provincia Independencia, quien se encuentra detenido para los fines legales correspondientes.
Al lugar del hecho se presentaron agentes de la Dirección General de Seguridad de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre (DIGESETT) en Neyba, quienes mantienen el caso bajo investigación para establecer las responsabilidades.
